The Carr Fire near my city of Redding, California tore through everything in its path. Destroying well over 100,000 acres and over 1,000 buildings, it's one of the largest and most destructive fires in California's history.

The National Guard was brought in. Thousands of fire fighters in the fight. Hundreds of utility workers working tirelessly to restore power and order to the city.

It's bad, no two ways around it. But Redding will rise out of the ashes. Some of the photos in the gallery below show the tremendous resilience of this community.

The fire will make us a stronger people, and a stronger city.
